Icaro2000 Nerv 2.0 Helmet

Nerv 2.0’s stylish lines are the result of design by Ignazio Bernardi in collaboration with Italy’s most prestigious helmet development company.

A new helmet starts from the desired technical characteristics, and it is given form by means of artisanal processes. In fact the first prototype is sculpted from wood and plaster, and it is then scanned and codified into a 3D file. This in turn is used for computer simulations on which colours and detail design can be perfected, and it provides the data necessary for the CNC machines that will cut the dies for the outer shell and the polystyrene inner shell.
Similar processes are used for all the other helmet components, such as ear covers, visor and so forth.
Once everything is ready, the helmet can be assembled, checked for quality, tested and packaged. The finished product is a fine example of Italian design and technological prowess.

For Nerv 2.0 we have introduced two outer shells, a larger version for sizes 60 and 61, and a smaller version for sizes 54-55, 56-57 and 58-59.
The principal reason for this change was to increase safety by means of a higher thickness for the inner polystyrene shell.
The smaller outer shell is 222 mm in width, the larger version is 236 mm in width. A minimal difference, just 14 mm.
But this was essential for passing the stringent impact tests required for EN 966 certification.We have retained the 3mm-thick polycarbonate outer shell, which is both exceptionally light and very strong.

Sizes

The size of a helmet is specified by the comfort padding’s inner circumference.
The size number therefore corresponds to the head circumference in centimetres, which you can determine using a soft measuring tape.
Please note that as there are two versions of the outer shell, one for the larger and the other for the smaller sizes, it is important to choose the correct version.
If you are in doubt whether to opt for the larger helmet with size 60, or the smaller helmet with size 59, we recommend choosing the larger version. The larger helmet can be adjusted using the rotary size regulator described below even if it initially feels too large. On the other hand, there is no way of adjusting the smaller size 59 helmet if it feels too tight.

The cap is quick and easy to change for a better fit. Size can be further adjusted using the rotary size regulator at the back of the helmet.

If the helmet is not a perfect fit, we can send you new padding free of charge, independently from where you bought the helmet.

Another important benefit of this internal padding system is that you can easily remove it and replace it with new padding, or simply wash it

Independence Innovation Harness

The new, sleek Innovation is a versatile harness for ambitious beginners as well as for thermal flying. Its well cushioned shoulder straps together with a noticeable free movement space make it really comfortable and suitable for long flights. Many elaborate details like adjustment possibilities and a capacious stowage complete this harness.

The geometry of Innovation makes it easy to slip into the harness respectively slip out at landing. Independence Logo Pro Harness

The revised Logo Pro now is even lighter than before. It is a robust, reasonably priced harness. It provides an outstanding flying experience as well as free moving space, which makes it suitable especially for beginners and casual pilots. It comes up with an integrated reserve container and a large foam protector. Its low weight and small packed measure make it a compact all-round harness.

Clearly arranged belts mark the Logo harnesses. Reduced, thus easy-to-handle adjustments and perfect belt geometry are basis for smooth motion sequences during take-off and landing.

Independence Hike Harness

Hike is an extremely light, yet comfortable, reversible harness. This harness without seat board provides a large rucksack capacity to carry your flight equipment. The harness is now available in two sizes. Thanks to elaborate details such as fasteners for helmet and hiking poles it is an ideal harness for hike & fly and travel purposes.

The redesigned harness is now available in two sizes. A captivating simple concept combined with sturdy light-weight material made it possible to achieve a weight of only 1,5kg.

Independence Compact Cell to Cell Bag (CC Bag)

We’ve combined the best of our famous ‘Protect Bag’ and the Compression bag ‘Zip’. The result is a very light compression bag of only 250g, which enables you to pack your glider cell to cell and compress it carefully by folding the interior tube and closing the zipper. The inside of that tube is fully covered with a silver sheath, which protects the fabric against UV. A bag well suitable for Hike & Fly as well as travel purposes.

HANDLING

The CAYENNE5 is an XC glider per excellence: It’s extremely efficient in thermals and cruises nicely so the pilot can stay concentrated, even on long XC flights. Our XC sportster converts each and every incremental control input into immediate altitude gain and it has plenty of energy in reserve to let you adjust your turning radius and bank angle to every new situation. Whether you’re hunting pulsating thermals close to the slope, coring a turbulent thermal with wind drift or on top and circling wide, nothing can knock this homogenous wing off course.

PERFORMANCE

Aspect ratio 6.4. 69 cells. Shark nose. 3-line technology. The technical specs of the CAYENNE5 don’t need any further explanation. Its purpose is clear when you see it. This purebred sport class glider wing is at home in any of the world’s top XC arenas! Glide performance is impressive and we are not shy about comparing it to other wings – even to current comp wings. In cruise flight, the CAYENNE5 flies like it’s on rails. Its whole performance range is available to you via the smooth speed system.

SAFETY

The CAYENNE5’s handling in extreme flying conditions is what you expect from an EN-C glider. The high degree of stability of its shark nose makes collapses and front stalls rare. Its clever design concept and technology features like JET FLAPS provide plenty of safety margin for the experienced pilot. Under normal flying conditions, the CAYENNE5 responds best to short, incremental control impulses with just slight adjustments in turbulent air. The stall break comes late and the wing remains nicely controllable, making landing top or bottom a joy.
