BRUCE’S NOTES

The new arc design and technologies in the Base 2 have allowed us to make big increases in performance, but without losing that all-important direct, playful BGD handling. We’ve upped the cell count to 57 and increased roll stability, while the sail and line tension are fine-tuned to achieve a perfectly balanced feel in the air.

Many R&D hours have gone into perfecting the smallest details. By developing a new multi-reefing brake system, we’ve sharpened the brakes in the first part of the range to give precise control with small brake movements, while the overall brake range remains long for safety.

We’ve remodeled the risers to improve the C-steering, with an additional ‘speed riser’ that links into the speed system. We’ve been careful to avoid the pilot hanging from a pulley, which can be an issue for some C-steering designs.

The Base 2 has the double leading-edge design that we used in the Cure 2 which ensures the leading edge stays solid, even when you’re on full bar. Cord cut billow panel shaping means a clean, smooth and crease-free top surface. We combined our high-tech airflow simulation software with low-tech tufts and a camera, enabling us to refine the wingtip ribs for optimal aerodynamic performance.

The Magic takes safety and performance to whole new levels, in a colorful and fun-to-fly package. It’s easy to launch, a joy to thermal and exceptionally roll stable, helping students avoid unintentional side-to-side oscillations.

The Magic lightens the workload of learning to fly without reducing the fun: great BGD handling and quick responses ensure it’s always a joy. It has good pitch stability, gently biting forward into lift and reacting very nicely in thermals.

Robust and durable materials mean it can cope with the rigors of training, but modern materials manage this without making it heavy – the M size is 4.9kg.

Bruce Goldsmith Design Cure 2 Paraglider

For many pilots flying enables them to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life, and get closer to nature. Flying is a form of meditation that can help heal you, and we have completely reformulated the CURE 2 to increase performance without increasing pilot stress. It has a brand new structure and a profile that’s closer to the Diva. We’ve upped the cell count to 74, and kept the same projected aspect ratio but reduced the arc, which means the flat aspect ratio is lowered to 6.4. The CURE 2 has an impressive top speed of 60km/h, yet full-speed asymmetric collapses are incredibly calm. Designed to be flown fast, the CURE 2 has a new light and efficient B/C steering system too. We’ve kept weight down by using Skytex 27 and 32 cloth, with Skytex 38 on the top-surface leading edge for durability. When you fly the CURE 2 you will soar high to new levels of performance.

ADAM

EN/LTF-A

The ADAM is our EN/LTF-A certified wing, designed for beginners or leisure pilots. Made from Durable Dominico D30 tissue, 34 enhanced clean cells make for a safe, 4.8kg paraglider. Smooth panels and uncorrupted ribs bring stability to my paragliders so I designed the ADAM with Chord Cut Billow (CCB). By adding CCB to the leading edge’s top panel the 3D bulge wraps around the rib without deforming it.

This is the first glider of this level to which I have added mini-ribs on the trailing edge. Normally, large-celled paragliders without mini-ribs have a lot of billow near the trailing edge and around the brake fold. When this billow is folded down with a brake input everything gets pulled out of shape. Mini-ribs reduced the billow around the brake fold creating more responsive brake input and a cleaner brake fold.

The ADAM is very colorful. We think that being seen in the air and on the ground is a safety bonus for instructors and new pilots.

WHO IS IT FOR

The new GRAVIS² was designed for a wide range of pilots. Especially pilots who like to walk to launch will have fun with the GRAVIS². The new high-performance material and the optimized interior structure reduce the weight to “walk and fly” dimensions without having to give up flight enjoyment.

THE CHARACTERISTICS

The GRAVIS² is a symbiosis between safety, performance and dynamics which make the glider ideal for stress-free flying. A slightly higher cell count, shark nose, changed cell structure and sail tension ensure a constant internal pressure over the entire range of angles of attack. As a result, the GRAVIS² is even more stable in the air than its predecessor, even in turbulent conditions. Brake line inputs are implemented directly and precisely, making it easier than ever to center the glider in thermals.
