Our new Trigon series combines the unbeatable qualities of our cruciform lightweight series with controllability! The controllability og this triangular parachute is an option, which can be activated, so that in case of an emergency close to ground controllability can’t become a safety concern.

Controllable reserve Trigon

Like in our cruciform parachutes the effective and low shape of our new lightweight series Trigon makes these reserves extremely stable, fast opening and grants a very low sink rate. If required, Trigon is controllable so that you can avoid obstacles with this parachute. However its controllability is only an option, which needs to be activated when required. If the pilot doesn’t enable the controllability, Trigon works like a conventional, non-controllable reserve – an important safety issue regarding deployments close to ground.

A unique fabric exclusively manufactured for independence, made of 10D sturdy Nylon 6.6 with only 22 g/m² weight, which has proven its worth for years in our Ultra Cross series, made it possible to develop this reserve.

Features:

Extremely light thanks to 10D tissue

Extremely fast opening

No pendulum movements

Controllability can be activated

Yellow fabric; red tip clearly indicates the flight direction

Certified acc. to LTF 91/09 and EN 12491

Not suitable for hang-gliders

A unique fabric exclusively manufactured for independence, made of 10D sturdy Nylon 6.6 with only 22 g/m weight and extremely light, yet high tensile Dyneema lines and ribbons, made our development process possible.

We decided to use a basic shape for the Ultra Cross, just like for our EVO Cross series, a cruciform canopy, which ideally meets the requirements of paragliding, especially regarding fast opening times and descent rates. Defined outlet ports at each corner as well as a slightly asymmetric canopy, lead to a steady flow around the canopy, which provides outstanding pendular stability.Precisely calculated suspension points for the panels maximize the projected surface area and additionally reduce the parachute’s sink rate.

Due to these innovations, we were able to stay below the required sink rate of 5.5 m/s according to EN 12491 restrictions. During the certification tests we stayed almost 15% below that threshold. Extremely fast openings, which come very close to notional specified minimum, have been achieved by a low, thus efficient, canopy height. The low height overall and innovative packing technique allowed the Ultra-Cross, to demonstrate opening speeds that were 40% below the certification requirement.

The post Independence Ultra Cross Reserve first appeared on Torrey Pines Gliderport.
