THE POWERFUL INTERMEDIATE WING WITH EXCEPTIONAL GLIDING PERFORMANCE

Redesigning the CrossCountry² gave improvements in speed, weight, performance and safety.Enhancements in the canopy, line geometry and especially in the materials used, are behind these huge improvements. Its Shark-Nose leading edge is made of durable NCV Skytex 32 with profiles made of NCV Skytex 32 Hard Finish and notably contributes to the improved performance and incredible stability.

The CrossCountry² proved to be enormously safe in all the test manoeuvres. In thermals and dynamic upwind flying, its handling is almost playful – a characteristic which will please many pilots.

This concept makes the CrossCountry² the ideal all-round paraglider for Hike & Fly, as well as for long distance paragliding. It can perform anywhere – in the mountains, in lowlands or when being winch launched.

Redefining the sport class

Fly the difference

Modern EN-B gliders like our CHILI and TEQUILA leave little to be desired. But the EN-C sport class offers us just the right amount of freedom to develop gliders with special characteristics for experienced XC pilots looking for more than just incremental improvements.

The CAYENNE5 redefines the sport class: our XC sportster combines true comp wing feeling with the genes of the CAYENNE series. We intentionally made the CAYENNE5 more of a comp wing than its predecessor. Positioned at the upper end of its class, our year-long development efforts produced a new concept with a higher aspect ratio, more cells and a profile optimized to reduce drag. The result is a sport class glider that sets new standards for performance, precision and dynamics. In the process, we remained true to our motto: pure passion for flying.

The CAYENNE5 is pure flying fun!

HANDLING

The CAYENNE5 is an XC glider per excellence: It’s extremely efficient in thermals and cruises nicely so the pilot can stay concentrated, even on long XC flights. Our XC sportster converts each and every incremental control input into immediate altitude gain and it has plenty of energy in reserve to let you adjust your turning radius and bank angle to every new situation. Whether you’re hunting pulsating thermals close to the slope, coring a turbulent thermal with wind drift or on top and circling wide, nothing can knock this homogenous wing off course.

PERFORMANCE

Aspect ratio 6.4. 69 cells. Shark nose. 3-line technology. The technical specs of the CAYENNE5 don’t need any further explanation. Its purpose is clear when you see it. This purebred sport class glider wing is at home in any of the world’s top XC arenas! Glide performance is impressive and we are not shy about comparing it to other wings – even to current comp wings. In cruise flight, the CAYENNE5 flies like it’s on rails. Its whole performance range is available to you via the smooth speed system.

SAFETY

The CAYENNE5’s handling in extreme flying conditions is what you expect from an EN-C glider. The high degree of stability of its shark nose makes collapses and front stalls rare. Its clever design concept and technology features like JET FLAPS provide plenty of safety margin for the experienced pilot. Under normal flying conditions, the CAYENNE5 responds best to short, incremental control impulses with just slight adjustments in turbulent air. The stall break comes late and the wing remains nicely controllable, making landing top or bottom a joy.

THE CHARACTERISTICS

Launching the Pica is extremely easy and predictable. The glider inflates with very little input and it’s docile manner will smooth out any pilot mistakes. The Pica has almost no tendency to overshoot and pauses momentarily allowing the pilot to check the glider before committing to launch.

Once airborne, the Picas smaller surface area provides direct handling and feedback normally associated with higher performance wings. The inherent passive safety surpasses even gliders in the A-class, allowing the pilot to relax immediately in flight.

Pica loves to climb too, and sits stable above your head. When entering the thermals it subtle pitch backwards, notifies the pilot of lift, without causing anxiety. It gently surges as you reach the core, helping less experienced pilots center thermals precisely, while more experience pilots will be able to maximize climb rates immediately. Pica will help improve your thermal skills by providing the right amount of feedback at the right time. Pica also provides a wide range of speed helping pilots transition between thermals during cross country flights, while retaining a low stall speed. It’s possible to land with no wind, or a slight tail wind in an unfamiliar LZ, and still look like a pro, with a soft, tip toe landing.

The newly developed line and riser geometry has been optimized for inflations, efficient flight, landings, and specific maneuvers like big ears, which have been optimized for stability and high descent rates.

The Pica is a hybrid 3-liner and has only two (2) primary suspension lines per side. The 3-liner concept, minimizes the number of lines and simplifies the line geometry. The setup time of Pica has been reduced with the simplified line layout… less tangles and better visibility of cleared lines. It improves the Pica’s performance as will, since less lines provide less parasitic drag improving overall performance. The risers have a perfect finish, with carefully colored and taped risers, which provide the pilot with better visibility during inflation and flight.
