Our Gift Certificates can be used in anything we sell on-site or on our website - and of course Tandem Flights for yourself or someone else.

Anyone of any age can go flying with us! You will fly with a certified professional tandem instructor. Simply call us the morning you want to fly to confirm the wind conditions, and then come out to the Gliderport. You'll have about 10 minutes of paperwork. No reservations.

Our Instructional Tandem Flight program is available seven days a week, 9am to 5pm, or as long as winds allow. We have as many as six to ten Paragliding tandem pilots available on a daily basis so if the winds are suitable, we will take you flying! Peak flying hours at the Gliderport typically takes place in the afternoons but all depends on the winds when we officially start and stop. For hang gliders, we only have one tandem instructor and flyable conditions for hang gliders are less frequent.

We do not offer tandem hang gliding gift certificate’s because it rarely happens. It requires very specific wind conditions which we don’t see as often as the paragliding. Please call us and we can let you know if it’s tandem hang gliding flyable!

Please note: The purchase of a tandem paragliding gift certificate is for the value of the flight experience only and does not guarantee a specific time slot or reservation. All tandem paragliding flights are subject to suitable wind and weather conditions, which may impact our ability to operate flights on a given day.

In the event that weather conditions prevent flying, gift certificates are NON-REFUNDABLE. We encourage you to check availability for alternative dates, or simply visit our office to purchase a ticket for flights that are operating on the day you wish to fly.

Tandem Flights are simple – here’s how they work!

  1. CALL –  We do not take reservations because our tandem flights depend on weather! If we are flying it is a first come, first serve basis. Call the morning you want to fly or check the weather conditions on our website to determine if we are flying tandems. Torrey Pines is lucky enough to enjoy flyable weather about 300 days out of the year, so there’s a good chance we are flying! If it’s flyable, then come on down.
  2. WRITE – When you arrive, you’ll fill out some written waivers and a  video waiver, which generally takes 10-15 minutes. Finally, you complete a one-page, temporary membership application with the Torrey Pines Gliderport flight school. Once done, you pay and wait to meet your pilot!
  3. LEARN – 10-15 minutes of preflight instruction between you and the instructor will give you all the skills and knowledge necessary to be a “great student pilot” and assist the instructor with launching, flying and landing.
  4. FLY – You’ll enjoy an incredible 20 minute flight over the beautiful Torrey Pines coastal bluffs. You’ll get a bird’s eye view of the Torrey Pines Golf Course, stunning La Jolla mansions, and miles of dramatic coastline. When it’s over, you’ll land right back where you took off. On rare occasions, the wind conditions may change and pilot and passenger will land on the famous Black’s Beach for a short hike back up the cliff.
