PRE-FLIGHT

  1. All usual pre-flight checks must be completed;
  2. City site waiver, U.S.H.G.A. waiver and related paperwork must be completed;
  3. Log to be kept of all students;
  4. $35.00 flight fee must be paid to concessionaire;

FLIGHT PROCEDURES

  1. All launches when possible shall be from South to North and climb to 800' ASL;
  2. If wind has strong Southerly component, take off may be from North to South with immediate 180* turn to left over Indian Canyon or to right out to Sea. In either case climb should be to 800* ASL;
  3. Landing procedures shall be the reverse of the above, except in light conditions. 0 - 10 M.P.H. winds all landings will be from north to south. Safety will at all times dictate over standard operational procedures.
  4. Once 800' ASL altitude is reached all FAA rules and regulations apply without other restrictions;
  5. All flights will stay a minimum of 500' in all directions from all other activities at the Gliderport;
  6. The Radio Control operational area between the designated window flags is 500' ASL. The State Beach area of Torrey Pines operational area is above 500' ASL. FAA Class D Airspace or the area directly in front of the Gliderport is 1500'ASL for maximum altitude.
  Flight Tips:   Explore every opportunity to refine your flying technique. Study the way your wing behaves in different situations and with varying degrees of input. Knowing your canopy well is a distinct advantage whilst airborne.  -  wingtips
